The :MOVE mini buggy is a kit from Kitronik for the BBC micro:bit. It provides a fun introduction to robotics. The :MOVE mini is a robot having 2 wheel, it is suitable for projects involving remote control via bluetooth, autonomous operation or being used with a second BBC micro:bit as a controller (via the microbits radio functionality).
The :MOVE mini is properled by 2 motors (continuous rotation servo). The speed of the motors can be controlled by simply altering the PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signal to the servo. This can be done easily by using the Servo blocks in the Microsoft PXT Block editor. Kitronik did also produced custom blocks for the Servo:Lite (the motor controling board) to make the task of coding as quick and painless as possible. Please see the "tutorials" section of this page.
The buggy also have 5 x RGB LEDs. Each of them is individually addressable and can receive a different color. The LED are compatible with the famous NeoPixel. They can be used as indicators, reverse lights, etc...
The :Move Mini can hold a pen or other extra parts to the kit to increase the range of tasks for which it can be used.
The included Kitronik :MOVE servo:lite board can also be used in conjunction with a BBC micro:bit to build other projects involving movement. Kitronik propose tutorials and guides to help the beginner (available in english). Those guides explain how to control a third servo, how to code the buggy to draw shapes, how to write code for the on-board ZIP LEDs, how to code the buggy for Bluetooth control and how to use a second microbit as a controller.
The BBC micro:bit is sold separately and the kit requires simple assembly, buy the microbit here.
