NeoTrellis : a 4x4 button Pads with NeoPixels backlight - great for colorfull reactive interface
The NeoTrellis is a 4x4 button pad boards, each pad designed to received an elastomer button cap (activating the contact on the pads).
Each pad is fitted with a NeoPixel (Addressable Smart RGB LED) so the pad can shine colorful light toward and elastomer button cap.
The NeoTrellis board covered with the elastomer button cap (available here) creates an incredible reactive button pad with back light color.
The NeoTrellis board communicates over I2C bus with configurable address. Thanks to the 5 address pins, up to 32 NeoTrellis can be connected to a single I2C bus.
The NeoTrellis can be arranged in row, column, matrix (tile-able). Thanks to the trusty Adafruit seesaw (I2C-to-anything chip), you do not need to manage the NeoPixel driving :-)
Both the button management and NeoPixel driving is managed by the seesaw chip. Configuration and results are communicated over plain I2C.
The NeoTrellis can be programmed with MicroPython or with Arduino/C++ and CircuitPython/Python library support. Theses pads can be controlled with microcontroller and computer boards.
This product can be used to create cool interface, MIDI instrument, control panel...or any project could benefit from a beautiful diffused colorful buttons.
A JST-PH 4 pins connector is available on the board and can be used for fast connexion with JST-PH 4 pin cable. That 4 pins connector provides power+data access.
The NeoTrellis boards can be soldered together edge-to-edge by soldering them. Use your soldering iron to update the I2C address jumpers for each NeoTrellis. Each address must be unique on a I2C bus!
