Create your own code with this LAB:bit from Kitronik, a all-in-one laboratory ready to receive your Micro:bit. No soldering required!
This laboratory offers a super fun way to discover coding with children, to learn about coding in an engaging and hands-on way. This lab:bit is designed for the computing classroom and have online MakeCode tutorials, simplified custom blocks, and a detailed getting english started guide. The LBA:bit is supplied in the box with battery holder (3 x AA), a wheel and a tyre for the motor. The box also include a the user guide.
This laboratory includes lot of features and devices ready to deliver funny and informative lessons.
The lab include:
- a motor,
- ultrasonic distance sensor,
- 2 x large user-assignable tactile buttons (with indicator LEDs),
- a microphone,
- speaker (with volume control),
- 7 programmable ZIP LEDs (in an arc),
- A user-assignable potentiometer control,
- 2 x sets of traffic light LEDs,
- LEDs arranged in a dice formation (that can also be used for displaying digits).
The board sits into a protective acrylic cover and features an edge connector for the micro:bit to slot into.
Clip-able pads are also available to:
- attach an additional motor,
- 2x clip-able pads for attaching additionnal buttons/switches.
The getting started guide is filled with step-by-step information that can easily be followed by either teacher or student. The detailled guide covers everything the user needs to know, from the ground up.
The coding is done with MakeCode blocks editor. Kitronik also provided custom blocks for the editor that will helps younger since such blocks are suited for age 7-10.
Each area of the board has its own blocks and they are all intuitive to use. Detailed usage information are available in the starter guide of the LAB:bit.
Power is provided with the 3xAA battery holder plugged into the DC barrel jack. The board is rated for 6V Max and 3V min. It is recommended to use a supply voltage between 3V and 4.5V.
The onboard power regulation circuit manage the power delivery to the board and the micro:bit (LAB:bit is reverse polarity protected).
Finally the power LED is a colour-changing one indicating when the battery voltage is getting low.
This product requires a Micro:bit to work. The Micro:bit is not included but you will find them on our shop.
