A servo motor with alligator clip, great for Micro:Bit

This is a clippable servo where the standard pin header is replaced with super useful alligator clips. This servo is designed for clippable based connection points project.

The 180 degree rotation metal gears servo is based on the Feetech FS90MG-CL. This servo is more reliable than plastic gear version. The servo is rated to operate between 4.8V - 6V and offers an output torque from 1.8kg.cm - 2.2kg.cm (respectively).

If you want to use the clippable servo with Micro:bit projects, a separate 5V power supply is required to power-up the motor (ground must be shared between the Micro:Bit and the external Power-Supply).

If you are using the Kitronik Klip Motor Driver then power can be directly provided by the Klip motor driver board.

The servo can rotate approx. 180 degrees (or 90° in each direction). It can be driven with the standard servo code/libraries.
The servo can be used with MakeCode or Python editors.

The servos are supplied with four horns and the associated fixings which should allow you to slot these servos into your projects with relative ease and without the need to make custom horns.

Support

This servo requires a separate power supply from the controlling micro:bit. Attempting to power this servo directly from the micro:bit is likely to cause permanent damage to the micro:bit.

Wiring:

  • Black clip: Ground/GND (brown wire)
  • Red clip: power supply = 4.8 to 6V
  • Yellow clip: signal
