4 bits GPIO Expander on I2C bus
Despite its small size, that SMD component can be greatly useful when you need a few additional GPIOs.
Discovered on a National Control Device product, that small GPIO expander is quite easy to use with Arduino (see this GitHub example) and MicroPython (see cour Micropython library).
Notice that PCA9536 do not have any address bit (I2C address is fixed).
Technical details
- 4-bits GPIO over I2C (clock from 0 Hz to 400 kHz)
- Voltage: 2.3 to 5.5 V
- 5V tolerant I/O
- Polarity Inversion register
- Low current in sleep mode
- Power-on reset interne
- 4 I/O pins configured as input at power on (internal pull-up resistor of 100 kΩ).
