Bus Tranceiver 8 bits
The bus transceiver is a technical element allowing you to connect a data/address bus (8 bits in this case) to a component. It's a bit like a big tap that allows communication to be established between two bus sections (or one bus and a component receiving parallel data).
The 3 state transceiver allows:
- to block communication (high impedance)
- to establish communication in one direction ( A --> B )
- to establish communication in an opposite direction ( B --> A )
This device therefore allows data to be sent to a component via the data bus (to configure the component) -OR- to receive data over the data bus (emitted by the component) -OR- dissociate the component from the bus (High impedance, as if the component was not there).
