AS7343 : the 14 channels spectrometer breakout

Quantify visible light with an affordable 14-channel spectrometer!

The AS7343 (successor to the 6-channel AS7262) isn't just a simple RGB color sensor! This component rigorously quantifies light in all 14 frequency bands from 380nm to 1000nm. Twelve channels are located in the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) light range. Two additional channels, CLEAR and FLICKER, are also present in the sensor.

The breakout is fitted  with two white LEDs thats illuminate the target for accurate spectral readings (and also to measure surface reflectivity).

This sensor can also be used to analyze different light sources and measure light transmission through materials (or solutions) using an external light source (opt for a CRI > 90 light source).

The 14-channel AS7373 spectral sensor is a 3.3V - 5V compatible breakout. Since this breakout communicates its data over the I2C bus, only two pins are required to transmit the readings. This breakout is also compatible with StemmaQt/QWIIC and the Pimoroni Garden ecosystem; simply plug in the breakout without the need for soldering. For more common applications, this breakout can be used with a 5-pin male connector or the 5-position female connector.

It is also compatible with the Raspberry-Pi by using 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 pinout.

Warning: This sensor is relatively complex, and you will need its datasheet and documentation to understand how it works.
Pimoroni therefore offers some simple examples for obtaining sensor data, but additional processing is required to obtain useful data (such as RGB components). Some specific uses may require a calibration phase, which will require a diffuser (not included with the breakout).
