Conductive sewing thread for wearable projects
These conductive stainless 316L sewing threads fall somewhere between the so-called "coarse" and thin sewing thread. Most sewing machines won't appreciate this thread precisely because it is thick and rather fluffy (the feel is a bit like fur).
If this characteristic makes it less attractive to the eye for e-textile and portable projects, it has a very high conductivity and great flexibility ideal for making gloves for iPhone! (Make Magazine, see also their video).
The iPad, iPhone use the capacitive effect to sense your fingers (not pressure), which is why it doesn't work when you have gloves on as they act as an insulator. Just sew a little conductive thread through your gloves and your iPhone screen can once again detect your fingers through the gloves..
