LCD display of 16x2 lines - Positive display on RGB backlight - standard HD44780 controler

This LCD is a very nice update of the 16x2 LCD. Instead of just having blue and white, this LCD have black characters on a RGB backlit background (therefore in color)! This means you can set the background color according to your wishes - red, green, blue, pink, white, purple, yellow, teal, salmon, chartreuse or simply off (for a neutral background). This LCD offers exceptional readability, easy to read even during the day and truly “beautiful” color rendering, whatever the color/brightness of the backlight.

The specifications of this display make it possible to directly replace the 16x2 white/blue display without problems. This is how to improve your project without hassle (only the red LED will be used in this case). The two extra pins (No. 17 and 18) correspond to the green LED and blue LED. The LCD already has integrated resistors, which allows it to be used directly with 5 volt control logic and each LED consumes approximately 20 mA.
The selected color is the same for all backlighting, the product image shows a recomposed image with 3 color options!

For each order you receive a 16x2 LCD with RGB backlight, a contrast adjustment potentiometer (absolutely necessary) and a connector row (pinHeader).

Technical details

• 2 lines of 16 chars (each line).
• Black text over RGB backlight.
• 2.54 mm spacing connector. Great for prototyping, wiring connect or breadboard usage.
• Pin labeled on the PCB (will help in wiring).
• An integrated RGB LED to control the backlight color. You create all the fundamental color combinations and more by using PWM signals.
  PWM can also be used to to finely controls the average power of LEDs (so reducing the power consumption).
• Each of the Red LED (R), Green LED (G), Blue LED (B) is fitted with a 220 ohms resistor in series. The power consumption could easily be reduced by using 3.3V for LEDs instead of 5V. The forward voltage of LEDs is about ~2.2V.
• Can be controled with 6 pins + 3 PWM pin to control RGB color.
• Contains tables with english/frech characters set, see the HD44780 specs for more détails.
• Possibility of creating up to 8 complementary characters. Allows you to add accented characters or compose glyphs (small drawing)..
