Power-up your Pi-Zero projet from a LiPo battery
Having a small and efficient power supply is always tricky when taking a project into the wild...but this product will get you ready to power-up your Pi-Zero project... say hello to the Pimoroni LiPo Shim! It is the most compact power supply possible for all versions of Raspberry Pi.
You can either:
- solder the the PCB directly to the bottom of your GPIO header for a permanent solution (0.8mm tick)
- Solder the provided connector on the board then you can plug it (and remove it) from the GPIO each time you need it. However this approach would not be compatible with the additional Hat/pHat.
The LipoShim uses a Step-Up Boost Converter (TPS61232 from Texas Instruments) with very efficiency (commonly 95%). The board have two LED for Power On and Battery Low. If the voltage drops too low then the booster did shutdown to protect the battery from undervoltage instability (quiescent current ~15µA). Please note that power selection cannot avoids the 15µA quiescent current.
This product doesn't includes LiPo Battery but you can find LiPo in this category.
Not a charger
Please note that the Lipo Shim is not a charger and cannot reload LiPo. You will need a separate LiPo charger to refill your LiPo/LiIon batteries!
