Host board for compute module, in between computer board and maker board

The ideal host board to create a Raspberry-Pi computer from a compute module. This board support CM4 or CM5 (both sharing the same form-factor).

CM4/CM5 Maker board features

What is a compute module

The Raspberry Compute module (CM4/CM5) and Compute Module Lite (CM4Lite/CM5Lite) are respectively based Raspberry Pi 4 / Pi 5. Compute Module is fitted with RAM, controler and WiFI module (if any). The form factor of CM4 and CM5 are identical as well as connector to host board. The two 100-pin high-density connectors are used for two HDMI, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, GPIOs, 2 Mipi (CM5: 1xDSI + 1x CSI or 2x CSI or 2x DSI. On CM5 the third Mipi port is used for USB3), etc.

Compute Module with eMMC

The regular compute module also fits onboard eMMC used as boot disk, booting from eMMC is super-fast.
The BOOT switch of the board must be set to initialise the eMMC with an operating system (see our tutorial)
Note:

  • when using CM with eMMC the SDCard connector not available!
  • The OS boot from internal eMMC (only)
  • The eMMC disk can have a size from 2 up to 64 Go.

Compute Module Lite (without eMMC)

CM Lite do not have eMMC on board. The Compute Module boots from SD Card connector (or disque M.2 NVMe).
