Rechargeable RTC battery for Raspberry-Pi 5
The Raspberry-Pi 5 has an RTC clock. This clock is able to maintain the flow of time when the Pi 5 is powered off.
It is necessary to connect a RTC battery to the ad-hoc connector to keeps this clock functioning with the Raspberry-Pi powered off (see connector right next to the power plug).
Contrary to popular belief, the RTC clock is not located in the SoC. The clock is part of the Power Management IC (namely PMIC) which sits just behind the USB-C connector.
