The Raspberry-Pi is a beautiful little computer, but one of the things for which it isn't very good is the control of the continuous servo motors - these motors require a very specific repetitive pulse (with a precise synchronization) to indicate the position (the angle).
Rather than ask the Linux kernel to struggle to manage and send these signals, you can connect this HAT! It can control up to 16 servos with perfect signal management. This HAT can also handle PWM signals up to 1.6 KHz with 12-bit accuracy (0 to 4096), all operating autonomously.
For Raspberry-Pi 2, Pi model A+, B+. Can be used with a model A or B if you have a 2x13 header instead of the included 2x20 header.
The Adafruit HAT PWM/servo 16 channels 12-bits can drive up to 16 servos or 16 PWM outputs via the I2C bus (requiring only 2 pins). The PWM controller on the card allows simultaneous 16 channels control without overloading the Raspberry-Pi processor . What else can we say except that you can stack up to 62 of them to control 992 servos - all with only the 2 pins of the I2C bus!
Best for last, Adafruit publishes a Python library that you can use with your Pi. So you will be ready to start instantly... to give life to your robotic project. The Adafruit HAT PWM/servo is a perfect solution for projects involving the use of multiple servo-motors!
For each order, you'll receive a HAT Servo, a terminal block 2pins, 4 connectors 3x4 and a male connector 2x20 (to connect the HAT on your Pi) - Pi not included.
You will need to perform some welding operations to "attach" the male connector to the card, but this is easy to achieve with a bit of welding (with resin) and a good welding iron. If you want to stack several HATs on your Pi, you can also use a 2x20 pin stacking header and a set of 3x4 connectors that you can weld instead.
Warning! This kit doesn't include Raspberry-Pi, servos or the necessary 5V power supply. The tutorial contains recommendations on the requirements of the 5 to 6V power supply as well as the servo motors that can be used (all DC servo motors for Hobbyist 3-pin will operate).
